Hearken: Behold there went out a sower to sow: And it came to pass as he sowed, some fell by the way side, and the birds of the air came and devoured it up. And some fell on stony ground, where it had not much earth; and immediately it sprang up, because it had no depth of earth: But when the sun was up, it was scorched; and because it had no root, it withered away. And some fell among thorns, the thorns grew up, and choked it, and it yielded no fruit. And other fell on good ground, did yield fruit that sprang up and increased; and brought forth, some thirty, and some sixty some a hundred. He said unto them,
" He that has ears to hear, let him hear" ---Mark 4:3-9
In this parable of the Lord, the situations referred to are of the mind. The seed is sown as soon as we are born, implanted within us and have the ability to manifest with time. If we are tied down by our earthly desires, it is as if the seed has fallen on rocky terrain only to take off on the wings of desire. At times we are shallow in faith, the plant of faith sown and nurtured by our parents gets uprooted with the little knowledge we have gathered, only to be burnt by the scorching heat of the world we live in. The thorns are the evil forces we encourage in our space and not let the seed grow. It is for us to discover the purpose of our being and grow. The choice lies within. Meditation helps. We need to focus within ourselves and discover a whole new world and the true meaning of our being. This results in untold happiness, as we realize our earthly achievements and possessions have lost its meaning in our lives.
